Needlepoint Books
Our selection of Needlepoint Books is divided into two categories—Instructional
Books and those that offer Charted Designs.
Instructional Books
Whatever your level of expertise, there is a book to answer your questions and
provide ideas and inspiration. For the novice stitcher, The National Needlework
Association’s How to Needlepoint is an excellent reference. For those who are
more experienced, we carry a number of stitch technique books including The
Needlepoint Book by Jo Ippolito Christensen, the Stitches for Effect series by
Suzanne Howren and Beth Robertson, and the entire series of specific guides by
June McKnight. Father B’s 21st Century Book of Stitches and Suzy’s Small
Stitches present new ideas to stitchers of all levels as do Alphabets
Elegant and Unusual and Alphabets Eclectic and Interesting by Tink Boord-Dill. An
unusual approach to stitching techniques is offered by Amy’s Cookbook for
Stitchers.
Design Books
All three of Elizabeth Bradley’s books (Decorative Victorian Needlework,
Needlework Antique Flowers, and Needlework Animals) are in our inventory as well
as both of the William Morris-inspired charted motifs by Beth Russell
(Traditional Needlepoint and Victorian Needlepoint). Glorious Needlepoint by
Donna Kooler and Catherine Reur’s Splendid Needlepoint are well-known among
stitchers. Kreinik’s Metallic Thread Embroidery is perfect for those who wish to
advance beyond traditional needlepoint. Other publications include charted
designs for miniature rugs, Celtic symbols, and bargello patterns.
The above lists reflects only a portion of the publications we carry.
